In March 2025, we secured a $8600 grant from the City of Toledo to provide 50 students with tutoring 4 days per week throughout the month of July. During our program, students were tutored in small groups with our tutors for one hour, followed by one hour of independent Math & ELA practice using Kumon Workbooks. Through a partnership with Connecting Kids to Meals, we were also able to provide warm lunch meals to the students every day.

Every Thursday, we successfully hosted a career readiness workshop, where students reflected upon the careers that interest them and the steps they would need to take to achieve their dreams. To aid this process, we brought in guest speakers to describe their journeys to success in the fields of Telecommunications and Medicine.

Lahaina Fires Disaster Relief

In response to the 2023 Lahaina wildfires, The Education Project worked with local educators, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and our undergraduate volunteers to offer tutoring two times a week for 5 months following the disaster.

During Spring 2025, we had a strong start to our program with biweekly virtual tutoring sessions for 15 students. In Fall 2025, we increased the impact of our program by providing both a virtual tutoring session and an in-person tutoring session every week from local TEP volunteers at the University of Texas at Austin.

Spring Elementary School

During the Spring semester of 2025, we were able to serve 16 students at Spring Elementary with weekly tutoring sessions. Due to our connection with Principal Coogler at Spring Elementary, we were able to launch our program at TPS Virtual Academy in Fall 2025.
